Tim Silverstone

The unofficial bio!

Even before joining Sealord in 2010 I had always had an interest in seafood (including visiting fish markets when overseas on holiday), so joining a fishing company was an ideal move.  I love the fact that we make a meaningful contribution by producing tasty and healthy products for people to enjoy in New Zealand, Australia and around the world.

I was born and bred in Hamilton and moved to Auckland after university.  I’ll always be a Chiefs fan, but football (and, in particular, Manchester United) is my true sporting passion (albeit that has been tested somewhat since Sir Alex Ferguson left).  I still play football (as a goalkeeper) and also enjoy running, which is probably a good thing as I also have a fondness for discovering new restaurants.

I lived overseas for about five years, first in London and then in Germany (at a brewery - sadly now closed – owned by the family of my wife, Eva), before returning to Auckland at the end of 2006.  Eva and I have three children (Mia, Alexa and Felix) who are all at school.

My role at Sealord covers a number of areas, the main ones being Sealord’s senior legal adviser and company secretary. I am also responsible for corporate affairs, government relations, risk and insurance.
